TEMPE, Ariz. (www.thesundevils.com) -- Former Arizona State University swimmer Emerson Ward (Phoenix, Ariz.) has been honored with the Cooper Tires/Pac-10 Leadership Award. The award is a $1,500 post-graduate scholarship given to one male and one female student-athlete each year.

The winners of the award are selected by the Pac-10 Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) that has representatives from each member institution. In 2005, Ward set the school record in the 100-yard breaststroke. He began swimming for ASU in the 2001-02 season.
