Tumlinson Places Second On Platform On Final Day Of NCAA Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas. - The NCAA Championships wrapped up on Saturday night with Arizona State junior diver Trisha Tumlinson placing second on the platform. The Sun Devils finished in 14th place with 107 points to finish in the nation's top-15 for the third year in a row.

Tumlinson totaled 454.35 points to earn the highest finish of her NCAA career. The Sun Devils also continued their success in the swimming pool, and junior ?gnes Kov?cs led the way on the final day, placing fifth in the 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:26.29.

In the last event of the Championships, the 400m freestyle relay foursome of junior Florencia Szigeti (55.34), senior Petra Banovic (55.61), sophomore Erin Baldinger (57.34) and freshman Amanda Gillespie (55.73) clocked a time of 3:44.02 to finish 14th. The squad's time converts to a short course yards equivalent of 3:20.72, the third-fastest time in school history. Szigeti's leadoff leg of 55.34 converts to a short course yards time of 49.58 and rewrites her own school record in the 100 freestyle. This is her second school record in as many days as the Argentine clocked a converted 1:46.15 yesterday in the 200 freestyle.

Auburn won the team competition for the third year running, tallying 569 points in a meet that featured two world records, nine American Records, 12 US Open records and 16 NCAA records. Final team standings are as follows.
