TEMPE, Ariz. -- The sixth ranked 2001 Arizona State University baseball team will hold its annual media day Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 1:30 p.m. in the batting tunnel at Packard Stadium.
Sun Devil head coach Pat Murphy and several players, including preseason All-Americans Casey Myers and Jon Switzer, will talk about the upcoming season in a panel discussion type format. All media members are invited to come and meet the 2001 Devils.
This year's edition of Sun Devil baseball is coming off a strong 2000 season in which the team went 44-15 and gained the Pac-10 Championship with a 17-7 record. ASU returns 14 letterwinners and the entire infield for this season. Add in the top recruiting class in the nation as named by Baseball America, and expectations are nothing short of the Devils ending the season in Omaha at the College World Series.
Arizona State officially opens the 2001 season Jan. 26 vs. Texas-Arlington with a 3 p.m. game at Packard Stadium. The annual Alumni game will be played Saturday, Jan. 20 at 1 p.m. Special guests for the Alumni game will be announce later in the week.
