Arizona State Sun Devil Baseball will be naming an All-Decade Team for the 2000's. The 25-man roster is made up of players who played at least two seasons at Arizona State and who played in the past decade.
Petey Paramore, CATCHER, 2006-2008
Preston "Petey" Paramore came to Arizona State as a highly-touted catching prospect out of Allen, Texas. Paramore did not disappoint during his three-year Sun Devil career, hitting .354 in his career. Paramore started 174 of his 177 career games, totaling 216 hits and 38 doubles during his time in Maroon and Gold. He drove in 139 runs and scored 163, helping Arizona State to back-to-back Pac-10 championships in 2007 and 2008 and a berth in the 2007 College World Series. Paramore was known for his outstanding batting eye, drawing 147 walks in his career, fifth most in school history. He earned First Team Freshman All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball and Second Team honors from Baseball America during his debut season of 2006. He would earn three straight First Team All-Pac-10 selections, twice was named First Team Academic All-Pac-10 and earned Second Team Academic All-American honors in 2008. He earned First Team Academic All-District VIII status in 2008. Paramore played for Team USA in 2007 and was a third round pick of the Oakland Athletics in the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft.
From 2000 to 2009, Arizona State baseball won 433 games, 157 Pac-10 games, appeared in the NCAA Tournament in each year and reached the College World Series three times. The Sun Devils won four Pac-10 titles, including the last three, finished in the Top 5 in the nation three times and saw 47 players earn First Team All-Pac-10 honors. Over the past 10 years, ASU has had six Pac-10 Players of the Year, two Pac-10 Pitchers of the Year, two Pac-10 Newcomers of the Year, a Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year, three Academic All-Americans, 33 All-Americans and a National Player of the Year. Since 2000, 78 Sun Devils have been selected in the MLB Draft.
