TEMPE, Ariz. -- The No. 13 Arizona State Men's Swimming & Diving team fell to the No. 1 Stanford Cardinal on Saturday afternoon, 156-119 at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. The Sun Devil men (4-4, 0-3 Pac-10), received first-place finishes from Nick Brunelli in the 100 free and Joona Puhakka on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard.

Brunelli's win in the 100 free (44.82) went along with his second-place effort in the 200 free (1:38.05). Other top-three finishes on the day for the Sun Devils were registered by Ace Tate in the 100 fly (3rd, 49.89), Bobby Zaabadich in the 50 free (2nd, 20.33), David Kolozar in the 200 fly (2nd, 1:48.17), Christian Harcsas in the 200 back (3rd, 1:46.98) and Leonardo Martins in the 200 breast (3rd, 2:03.72).

The Cardinal backed up their No. 1 national ranking by taking the top three spots in a total of five events. Dan Trupin led Stanford with first place finishes in the 400 IM (3:47.90), the 200 fly (1:47.24) and the 200 IM (1:46.46). That 200 IM time is the fastest in the nation this year.

In the diving pool, Joona Puhakka once again swept the diving events to stay undefeated in dual competition as a Sun Devil. He recorded 387.38 on the 1-meter and 365.70 on the 3-meter for the victories. Sun Devil Thomas McCrummen finished third in both events to Stanford's Adam Peterson. Peterson had the edge in the 1-meter by less than a point (328.13 to 327.38) and in the 3-meter by less than two points (282.23 to 280.50).

This meet marked the end of the home season for the Sun Devils. They will be in action again next weekend when they travel to Austin, Texas to take on Texas and Arizona on Friday and Saturday.
