TEMPE, Ariz. - When the Arizona Fall League opens their 15th season on October 10th, Arizona State University baseball will be well represented. Travis Buck, one of the top prospects in the Oakland A's system, will be playing for the Phoenix Desert Dogs, while Dennis Sarfate of the Milwaukee Brewers will be suiting up for the Scottsdale Scorpions. In addition, former Devil Pat Listach will be managing the Mesa Solar Sox. Buck will become the 20th Sun Devil to play in the Fall League, joining Major Leaguers Paul Lo Duca (Mets), Dustin Pedroia (Red Sox) and Andre Ethier (Dodgers), among others. Sarfate played for the Scorpions in 2004.

"The Arizona Fall League continues to be a proving ground for the major league stars of tomorrow," said head coach Pat Murphy. "I'm very proud that our program has a strong presence in the league and that several Sun Devils have the opportunity to showcase themselves in front of some very influential baseball people."

Buck, who played at ASU from 2003 to 2005, hit a combined .320 with Stockton (A) and Midland (AA), collecting 50 extra base hits. The first round pick of the Oakland A's in 2005 also appeared in the Future's Game at All-Star Weekend in Pittsburgh. He hopes to follow in the footsteps of Andre Ethier, who played for the Desert Dogs last fall before making his Major League debut in 2006 and now finds himself in the National League Division Series with the Dodgers.

Sarfate, who made his Major League debut with the Brewers in September, played for the Sun Devils during the 2000 season. He appeared in eight games for the Scorpions in 2004, striking out 27 batters and allowing opponents to hit only .197 against him.

Listach played for Arizona State in 1988 before embarking on a six year big league career with the Brewers and the Cardinals. He was the American League Rookie of the Year in 1992. Listach just completed his first season as the manager of the AA West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx, finishing with a 75-65 record.

"I'm also excited that our fans have such a unique chance to see these Sun Devils compete at the professional level right here in our own backyard," added Murphy. "The league is full of some of the top college talent in recent years, but to have ASU guys once again represented in the league is pretty special."
