Nov. 4, 2001
The 2002 Arizona State baseball schedule is almost completed and will be available for release in early to mid December.
Due to construction and renovation plans at Packard Stadium, the home of Sun Devil baseball, and logistical issues with the plan to move to a nearby major league spring training facility (most likely HoHoKam Park in Mesa, Ariz., the release of the schedule to the public has been delayed to ensure that game times, sites and dates will all be correct. Thank you for your patience in this matter, as coordinating the facility, setting game times and ensuring that the facility will meet all of the needs of the ASU baseball team and the fans is of uptmost concern for Arizona State University.
Eighth-year head coach Pat Murphy and his Sun Devils have one of the nation's toughest schedules in the works for 2002, with nine games against participants in last year's College World Series on the slate.
ASU will host Tennessee and Cal State Fullerton to highlight its home non-conference schedule early in the season (February games) and plan to travel to Florida State, Notre Dame and Oklahoma in other non-conference match-ups.
The Devils will host 12 Pac-10 home games this year, including Washington, California, USC and Oregon State. Also in the works is an exhibition game vs. the National League Champion Arizona Diamondbacks at Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix.
