ASU: One of three male cross country All-Americans in ASU history, returns to the cross country course after redshirting last year...coming off All-America performance in the 10,000m at the NCAA Championships last spring…ASU record holder in the men's 10,000m (28:58.61)…as a redshirt-freshman in 2000, broke a 31-year old school record in the 10,000m with a 29:13.61 performance at the Mt. Sac Relays.

2001 Outdoor: Placed 13th in the 10,000m (30:17.17) at the U.S.A. Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.…earned All-America honors in the 10,000m with a sixth place finish at the NCAA Championships (29:33.18)…Pac-10 runner-up in the 10,000m (29:37.25)…also placed seventh in the 5000m (14:24.81) at the Pac-10 meet…placed seventh in the 10,000m at the Stanford Invitational, breaking his own ASU record with a personal-best 28:58.61…automatic NCAA qualifier in the 10,000m…recorded a personal-best in the 1500m (3:50.44), placing fourth at the UA/NAU Double Dual…also competed in the 3000m (8:27.95), placing third at the Bill Sawyer Invitational…earned second-team Academic All-District honors and second-team Pac-10 All-Academic acclaim.

2001 Indoor: Competed once, placing ninth in the 3000m at the UA/NAU Double Dual (8:42.52a).

2000 XC: Redshirted.

2000 Outdoor: Finished 12th in the 10,000m at the NCAA Championships (31:16.52)…posted an NCAA provisional mark and the seventh fastest 5000m time in school history with a 14:04.20 performance at the Penn Relays…ran a season best (3:53.19) in the 1500m at the Double Dual…school record time in the 10,000m at the Mt. Sac Relays, broke the previous record by five seconds set by Jerry Jobski in 1969 (29:18) and missed qualifying for the Olympic Trials by seven seconds.

2000 Indoor: Posted an NCAA provisional mark in the 5000m with a 14:16.07 but did not qualify for NCAAs… earned that time at NCAA Last Chance meet in Ames, Iowa, placing second… won the 3000m at the Double Dual with a 8:46.63.

1999 XC: Joined Todd Lewis (1991) and Larry Lawson (1974) as the only All-Americans in ASU men's history... finished 19th at the NCAA Championship (31:01), the third-best individual finish in ASU history... was also ASU's top finisher at the Pac-10 Championships, placing fourth to earn all-conference honors with a personal-best time of 24:00.3... that was the second-best individual finish at Pac-10s in school history, surpassed only by Todd Lewis' third-place finish in 1991... earned all-region honors with a fifth-place finish (30:45)... named ASU's most valuable runner... a second-team Pac-10 All-Academic selection... finished fifth at the Cal Irvine Invitational, 10th at the Pre-NCAA meet and 11th at the Roy Griak Invitational... during the spring of 1999, he was the top American finisher (25th) at the IAAF World Junior Cross Country Championships, held in Belfast, with a time of 28:02... fellow Sun Devil Isaiah Festa placed 30th as the two led the U.S. to a sixth-place finish... finished fourth at the National Junior Championship.

1998 XC: One of five freshmen to lead ASU to a fourth-place Pac-10 finish... placed 20th at the Pac-10 Championship (24:29) and NCAA Regional (31:20)... third-highest finish for a freshman at Pac-10s and second-highest at regional, trailing only teammates Juan Chavira (both) and Isaiah Festa (Pac-10)... top Sun Devil and freshman finisher at Bob Timmons Invitational (39th, 25:47)... had top-20 finishes in all but Bob Timmons meet including two top-10 finishes.

High School: 1998 graduate of Ben Davis HS in Indianapolis, Ind... 1997 cross country All-American... placed 5th at the 1997 Foot Locker National Championships... Indiana state champion in 3200m (1998) and cross country (1996)... state runner-up in 1996 and 1997 (3200m) and 1997 (1600m)... team won state championship in 1995.

Personal: Majoring in chemical engineering... parents are Moges and Eyerusalem Bizuneh... has two brothers, Amsalu (25) and Ben (11)... Amsalu ran cross country and track at Butler.
