ASU: Transfer from UNC Greensboro who is slated to start in center field and hit leadoff for the Devils... strong arm and solid defense in the outfield.

2001 (UNC Greensboro): Hit .301 and played in all 59 games for the Spartans... helped lead team to 31-28 record... hit leadoff and played center field... finished third on the team in batting... connected nine doubles, two triples and two home runs... recorded 19 multi-hit games and four multi-RBI games... recorded hits in 40 of his 59 games played... best game came with 4-for-5 performance vs. East Tennessee State... was also 2-for-4 with season-high three RBI and solo home run vs. VMI (3/11)... had a streak of eight consecutive multi-hit games in which he combined to go 18-for-37 (.486) between 4/13 and 4/24... coached by Michael Gaski.

2001 Summer (Anchorage Bucs): Played with current teammates Rod Allen, Sergio Garcia and Jered Liebeck as a late-season addition to the NBC World Series Champion Anchorage Glacier Pilots... finished second in the Alaska League in hitting with a .317 average (38x120)... scored 18 runs and stole 12 bases for the Bucs.

Junior College: Played two seasons for head coach Jim Bagnall at Eastern Arizona College in Safford, Ariz... garnered First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-Region honors during junior college career... set school records in season batting average (.425) and career stolen bases (74).

High School: A 1998 graduate of Gilbert High School in Gilbert, Ariz... coached by Bob Everett... unanimous First Team All-Region selection and First Team All-Conference during senior year... selected to 5A Conference All-Star team... set single-season school batting average record with a .483 mark.

Personal: Full name is Douglas Richard Schutt, Jr.... born Dec. 13, 1979 in Hayward, Calif.... son of Doug and Marlene Schutt... originally chose UNCG over Arizona State... his uncle, Frank Rivera, was a catcher in the San Francisco Giants organization... pursuing a degree in broadcasting... enjoys playing all sports and spending time with family.
