ASU Swimming Sweeps Men's and Women's Events

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State men's and women's swimming and diving teams were both victorious by lopsided margins of victory Saturday afternoon at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center on the campus of Arizona State University.

The men's team, led by senior and 1996 Olympian Felipe Delgado, who finished first in the 200 freestyle (1:43.10), and freshman diver Kevin Lilly who took first in the 1-meter dive and third in the 2-meter dive, defeated UC-San Diego 158-95, while the women, paced by sophomore Amanda Clegg, who took first-place in the 200 freestyle (1:56.26) and 200 breaststroke (5:08.69), and junior Katrina Pfeuffer, who swept the 1- and 2-meter diving, defeated UC-San Diego (188-101) and the University of San Diego (199-98).

The men's team had a first-place finisher in every event as it won its second straight dual meet to improve its dual-meet record to 2-2 on the season.

With the two victories the women's team moves its record to 5-1 on the season.

Both teams are on the road next week with a pair of dual meets versus Pac-10 foes (No. 14 in men's and No. 8 in women's) California January 23 and No. 1 in men's and women's Stanford January 24.
