Mexican Olympian Adriana Marmolejo has been added to the Arizona State swimming coaching staff as a volunteer coach. With her thick international swimming resume, Marmolejo will help bring her winning tradition to the Sun Devil swimming team.

Marmolejo has been to the past three Olympic Games: Sydney in 2000, Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008, making her the first Mexican woman to qualify for three Olympics in swimming. She is currently ranked 43rd in the world in the breaststroke events.

Marmolejo earned the bronze medal in the 200 breast at the 2003 Pan American Games. In the Central American Games, she has tallied six gold medals and three silver and accumulated eight gold and five silver medals at the Central American Championships. In her native country, she has reached 75 national titles and holds 50 national records. Marmolejo has been the Mexican national record holder in the 50, 100 and 200 breast since 1998.

Marmolejo already has Sun Devil ties as her father, Ricardo Marmolejo, was coached by former ASU coach Ron Johnson at the 1968 and 1972 Summer Olympic Games. Marmolejo is a graduate of Centro Culinario Ambrosia in Mexico City where she earned a culinary arts degree.
