SUN DEVIL DATA: Showed flashes of being a top Pac-10 talent in his first year after he made the adjustment from prep school to Division I. Seay and Jeff Pendergraph each scored 21 points vs. Oregon on Feb. 11, the first time in ASU history two freshmen have scored 20 points in the same game. Known as a player who could be a sleeper in the recruiting world as he attended prep school before coming to ASU, so he was not on all the recruiting lists and charts, but recruiting analyst Bob Gibbons has said he is the equivalent of a top-40 player. Long at 6-9, but skilled and is a wing player who step out and shoot the three-pointer. Turned heads at the Reebok ABCD Camp in 2004, as Clark Francis had him rated as the 35th-best player at the camp, while ASU teammate Jeff Pendergraph was 37th, and Francis also had Seay as the ninth-best power forward. Sylvester's uncle, Mark Seay, played for the San Diego Chargers (1993-95) and the Philadelphia Eagles (1996-97) and caught 135 passes for 1,629 yards and 10 touchdowns in his five-year NFL career and played college football at Long Beach State.
