ASU:Came out strong last season, playing in 16 matches before suffering a surgery-requiring knee injury which sidelined her for most of the second half of the season...will play more of a middle back position in the upcoming 2007 season... very athletic and still very raw... was one of the top 50 recruits in the nation as selected by prepvolleyball.com... did not start playing volleyball until sophomore year in high school.

2006 (Junior): Garnered an All Pac-10 All-Academic team Honorable Mention...appeared in 16 matches, starting two before a knee injury sidelined her for the second half of the 2006 season...collected 82 kills for a 2.10 kill per game average, good for fourth best on the team...also had 22 blocks on the season...bested her career match record of nine kills with 10 in separate matches, as well as besting her career high three blocks with four in two matches.

2005 (Sophomore): Appeared in 12 matches, starting one...turned in a career high nine kills against Cal (10/13).

2004 (Freshman): Saw action in 14 matches and made one start... made the transition from a prep middle blocker to the outside hitter position... averaged 0.58 kpg and 0.33 blocks per game... recorded three kills and one block against Toledo (9/4)... had career-high 4.5 points with three kills, one service ace and one block against Cal State Fullerton (9/18)... had 3.0 blocks against Stanford (9/24)... had two kills on two attacks against Oregon (11/5).

High School: Graduated in 2004 from William Howard Taft High School in Woodland Hills, Calif... earned three varsity letters in volleyball and was the team captain as a senior... coached by Armond Mercado at Taft... played three years for the Santa Monica Beach Club... helped lead SMBC to a top eight finish at the Volleyball Festival in 2003 and a top 16 in Reno in 2004... named all-league as a sophomore and all-league and all-city as a junior and senior.

Personal: Majoring in Journalism/Mass Communications... parents are David and Yvonne Fernandes... last name is of Portuguese decent and is pronounced Fur-Nannz (silent d)... has one older brother, David... was a scholar athlete in high school... favorite food is pasta, favorite movie is Dances with Wolves and favorite TV shows include Sex and the City and the X-Files... outside of volleyball, she enjoys reading, surfing, traveling, playing the drums, camping and watching movies... full name is Danielle Brianna Fernandes... born June 24, 1986 in Anaheim, Calif.
