WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Arizona State sophomore outside hitter Macey Gardner was named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office annouced Monday.

Gardner, a native of Gilbert, Ariz., was named the Most Valuable Player of the Gonzaga Invitational over the weekend where she averaged 5.94 kills and 7.06 points per game, while hitting .367 over three matches. Gardner had three-consecutive 20-kill outings, including 22 in a 3-0 win over UNLV. She hit .452 in that match, committing just three errors.

She opened the weekend with 20 kills and a .395 hitting percentage against Seattle University, then closed the weekend with 20 kills and a .250 hitting percentage against host Gonzaga. All three matches were three-set victories. Gardner also added 2.22 digs per set.

The Sun Devil volleyball team has started the season red hot, going 6-0 without dropping a single set. Not only is this head coach Jason Watson's best start at ASU since becoming head coach in 2008, this is the first 6-0 record since 1995 when the Sun Devils, led by Patti Snyder-Park, made an appearance in the NCAA Sweet 16.

This is Garnder's first Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week and Arizona State's 17th all-time honor.

Next up, the Sun Devils travel to Champaign, Ill., to take on the ranked Texas Longhorns and Illinois Fighting Illini, Sept. 12-13.
