TEMPE, Ariz.- No.16 Arizona State volleyball continues the first week of Pac-12 play with a trip to Palo Alto, Calif. to take on No. 7 Stanford on Friday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. The match will be broadcasted live on Pac-12 Networks.

Arizona State (12-1, 1-0 Pac-12) is coming off three-straight sweeps over the weekend at the Arizona State Marriott Invitational, which resulted in the Sun Devils climbing the polls up to No. 16. The newly released ranking also constitutes the highest appearance for the Sun Devils since 1995 where ASU made a solid run into the post-season tournament. The Sun Devils continued with the dominance into the commencement of Pac-12 play Tuesday night where they were able to sweep the Arizona Wildcats, 3-0.

ASU now sets its sights to a stout No. 7 Stanford (8-2, 1-0 Pac-12) where The Cardinal is coming off a 3-1 win at rival California on Sept. 25.

ABOUT THE STANFORD SERIES: Arizona State is 4-62 against Stanford overall. The last win came on Sept. 30, 2000 over No. 15 Stanford in the 3-1 set win in Tempe. The win over the Cardinal was the first for ASU over Stanford since Oct 22, 1993.  Senior middle blocker Carly Wopat leads the Pac-12 and ranks third in the nation with a .484 hitting percentage this season while also averaging 1.41 blocks per set. Three members, including Wopat, of the Stanford squad have tallied 100 plus kills on the season – Brittany Howard (105), Rachel Williams (103), and Wopat (102).

The Sun Devils are third in the conference in digs with 646 (15.76 avg/s) led by the senior libero, Preach, with her 187 digs (4.56 avg/s), which is the 4th most in the Pac-12. Preach has also moved into the second all-time position in ASU history with 1,647 total career digs, passing Christy Nore who has held the position since 1988.

ASU’s .374 attack percentage against ULM (Sept 21, 2013) is the fifth-highest performance in ASU history (rally scoring).
