TEMPE -- The Arizona State University softball team will open the 2013-14 season on Tuesday, Oct. 1 with the first practice of the year at Farrington Stadium. Fans are invited to join the team from 5-8 p.m. and admittance is free of charge.

The opportunity allows fans their first look at the newly constructed solar panels located above the stadium seats.  The solar panels will shade up to 60 percent of Farrington Stadium as well as generate enough electricity for the university to declare the facility climate-neutral. The climate-neutral objective refers to Arizona State University’s overall goal of offsetting the amount of carbon released in to the atmosphere. It has become a university-wide goal to become a zero carbon footprint school.

Representatives from the Sun Devil ticketing and group sales department will be on-hand to handle ticketing needs for the 2014 season. The marketing department will also be available to give tours through the facility. Additionally, the booster club representatives will be set up with information on becoming a Diamond Devils Booster Club member.

The first practice also kicks off a busy week for Sun Devil softball as Friday, Oct. 4 will mark the first of eight Fall games, with the team taking on Yavapai College at 6 p.m.  Admission is free to all games on the Fall schedule and fans are encouraged to come out and support the team on the dates and times listed below.
