Arizona State University safety Alden Darby was named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week after he was responsible for three turnovers against USC that led to 17 points for the Sun Devils, and he also ranked third in tackles in the game with seven.

In recognition of Darby's performance, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, sponsors of the Lott IMPACT Trophy, will make a $1,000 donation to the general scholarship fund at Arizona State.

Darby is heavily involved in the Scholar Baller Outreach Program, which is partnered with Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, African American Men at ASU, The Phoenix Greater Urban League, and Caesar Chavez High School, and calls for ASU student-athletes to develop and teach a curriculum centered around helping high school students become successful students.

“People really respond to him, respond to his message,” said Jean Boyd, the Senior Associate Athletic Director at the university.

Darby was also named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week, the first Devil to earn the conference honor this season, as he logged the seventh and eighth interceptions of his career against USC, and recorded his second interception return for a touchdown in the process. He now has 238 all-time career interception return yards and trails the all-time record of 324 career interception return yards set by Nathan LaDuke back in 1987-90.
