TEMPE, Ariz.—Arizona State head volleyball coach Jason Watson announced on Thursday that the first member of the 2014 freshman class, Madison McDaniel, has signed a National Letter of Intent.
“Madison comes to us from an extremely competitive club program,” Watson said. “That experience will help in her transition to ASU. I’m excited to have her as part of our program and expect great things from her in the years to come.”
McDaniel, a setter from Arlington, Texas, currently attends The Woodlands High School, and was a 2012 selectee to the AVCA Phenom list.
“I’ve come to appreciate Madison’s mindfulness,” Watson said. “She works hard, but does so with an intent to improve on the details of her game. As such, she’s going to greatly add to the culture of our program.”
With her club team, the Houston Juniors, McDaniel was the 2011 First Team All District Newcomer of the Year, and was also named to the 2012 All District First Team.
This year, McDaniel was named to Vype Magazine’s All Greater Houston Pre-season Team, and the Lonestarvolleyball.com All Texas Second Team.
With a career-best 389 kills and 379 digs so far this season, McDaniel was named All Tournament Offensive MVP at the Pearland Invitational Tournament.
Daughter of Larry and Karen McDaniel, she has one sister, Morgan.
