Against the Bruins

The Sun Devils picked up their first win in Pasadena since 2007. The Sun Devils now trail the Bruins 18-11-1 in the all-time series.

Linebacker Carl Bradford intercepted UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley on the first play of the second quarter as ASU has now forced a turnover in 25 straight games, including all 24 of the Coach Graham era. It is the third-longest active streak among all FBS programs.

Bradford’s 18-yard interception return for a touchdown on the first play of the second quarter was the seventh interception return for a touchdown under Coach Graham at ASU and fourth this season. ASU had four in the previous three seasons.

Points off turnovers

Strike first

Kelly scored on a three-yard rush less than three minutes into the game to put ASU ahead first, 7-0, and Arizona State has now scored first in 20 of the 24 games with Todd Graham at the helm, and is 8-1 in such contests this season. The Sun Devils are now 15-5 in the Todd Graham era when getting on the scoreboard first.

Strike slow

ASU also put together a pair of four-plus minute drives, including a 69-yard, 13-play, 5 minute and 40 second drive in the second quarter, and a 14-play,64-yard, 6 minute and 50 second drive in the third quarter, and now has 13 scoring drives of four minutes or longer this season. ASU had just three all of last season.

With exception of the mercy kneel vs. CU/OSU, ASU has now scored on 54 straight red zone drives.

Winning The Toss and Receiving

The Devils won the coin toss and chose to receive for the third consecutive week this season, and has now scored on each of their opening drives the past three weeks. It was the fifth time in coach Graham’s tenure at ASU they have won the toss and elected to receive. They have won the coin toss 13 times in coach Graham’s tenure and have deferred eight times.

First half points

ASU scored 35 points in the first half against UCLA and has now scored 30+ points in four games this season (47 against Colorado, 42 against Sac St, 42 against Washington State and 35 against UCLA).
