It will mark the second road game of the year for ASU, who won at UNLV 86-80 on Nov. 19 behind Jahii Carson's 40 points. DePaul topped ASU 78-61 last year (Dec. 12) as it jumped out 42-33 at the half and never looked back. DePaul shot 50 percent and outrebounded ASU by 10 (44-34) which included 12 offensive boards.
THIS IS A GOOD THING: In the first three seasons of his career (89 games), Jordan Bachynski averaged 6.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.03 blocks. This season he is at 13.8 ppg., 10.1 rpg and 4.1 bpg. Jordan has a double-double in seven games, after entering the season with five in his first three seasons (89 games). The seven double-doubles was tied for most in the nation at the beginning of the week with Kentucky's Julius Randle.
JORDAN BLOCK-CHYNSKI: Jordan Bachynski with 218 blocks is ASU's career leader, topping the Sun Devil record of 191 held by Mario Bennett (1991-95). Next up on the Pac-12 list is Taj Gibson of USC who had 253 from 2006-09 and stands third on the Pac-12 list.

MARSHALL, MARSHALL, MARSHALL: Later in this notes package you will read about Jermaine Marshall's career stats and some great scoring numbers, but don't sleep on this note as competition begins to heat up. In two high-intensity wins where every bucket was needed (UNLV and Marquette), he was 15-of-28 (.535) from the floor, 6-of-13 (.462) from the three-point stripe and posted 21 at UNLV and 20 vs. Marquette. Want more? In the second-half of those nail biters he was 10-of-14 (.714) from floor. He has 1,008 career points
COACHES GO BACK A WAYS: Overall Coach Sendek is 5-3 vs. Oliver Purnell, as he was 2-0 vs. him when the two squared off in southern Ohio as Miami of Ohio topped Dayton 81-72 on Dec. 4, 1995, and at Dayton 79-56 on Dec. 30, 1995. In the three years of paths crossing in the ACC, NC State beat Clemson three out of four times.
HE'S A MAN, HE DROPPED 40: Jahii Carson became the fourth Sun Devil to notch a 40-point game (seven times) when he went 16-of-25 from the floor and had 26 second-half points in the 86-80 win at UNLV on Nov. 19. Only Eddie House (four times), Paul Williams (a second-round NBA pick of the Phoenix Suns in 1983) and The Beard did the same in a Sun Devil uniform.

In his career he is shooting .498 from the field (158-of-317), .431 from the three-point stripe (25-of-58) and .778 from the free throw line. He is averaging 10.7 points in the second half of games.
VS. DEPAUL: ASU is 1-4 including last year's Blue Demon win in Tempe on Dec. 12...prior to last year DePaul won a 68-64 game in November of 2011 in the Old Spice Classic in Orlando...the previous matchup was a 73-72 ASU overtime win on Nov. 27, 1982, at the Crush Classic in Rosemont, Ill.
PAST THREE GAMES...
MIAMI (FLA.) 60, ASU 57 (12/1/13; WOODEN LEGACY): ASU led by 10 in the first half and 45-37 with 12:48 to go but Miami shot .565 (13-of-23) from field in second half to come back and steal one from ASU...Jahii Carson sprained his right ankle and was limited for much of the second half...Jordan Bachynski had 20 points and 15 rebounds on 8-of-11 shooting...Jon Gilling had nine assists...ASU had just 27 points in the second half and shot just 9-of-29 (.310).
ASU 80, COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON 58 (11/29/13; WOODEN LEGACY): ASU was down four nine minutes into the game but led by as much as 27 late as it shot 14-of-25 (.560) from the field in the second half...Jahii Carson had 21 points, Jordan Bachynski had 16, Jon Gilling 15 and Egor Koulechov 12...ASU was outrebounded 41-24...ASU had just five turnovers and forced 15.
#20 CREIGHTON 88, ASU 60 (11/28/13; WOODEN LEGACY): Creighton shot .552 from the field in the first half (16-of-29) in the first half and jumped out to leads of 14-5, 24-9 and 28-13...ASU cut it to 38-31and had three chances to score in the final 2:38 but came up short and and Creighton closed the half on 7-0 run...Jahii Carson led ASU with 15 points while Jermaine Marshall and Richie Edwards added 12 each.
DON'T BLAME US: Scoring in D-I men's basketball was at its lowest since 1951-52 last year (67.5 ppg). Meanwhile in Tempe, ASU went from averaging 61.0 ppg. in 2011-12 to 71.8 ppg. in 2012-13.
KEEPING EYE ON THIS: Jordan Bachynski started career 133-of-243 (.547) from the free throw line, but has made 38-of-57 (.667) since.
FIVE RETURNERS: They say a huge key in college hoops is to have a great point guard and solid big man, so ASU has that covered. How good was JAHII CARSON at the end of 2012-13? In the final six games he had heads turning with these digits: 22.5 ppg., 6.0 rpg., 5.0 apg., .551 from the field, .500 from three and .800 from free throw line. He is one three All-Pac-12 first-team players returning (Dwight Powell/Stanford and Spencer Dinwiddie/CU)...JORDAN BACHYNSKI set the Pac-12 season blocks record with 120 last year and needs just 95 blocks to break the Pac-12 career mark set by Anthony Cook (UA/1985-89). After averaging 4.6 points in his first two seasons, he averaged 9.8 points in 2012-13...no Pac-12 player made more threes than JON GILLING last year (84), fourth-most by a Sun Devil. He averaged 9.7 points in his sophomore season...sophomore ERIC JACOBSEN played in 32 games last year and weighs a solid 250...junior BO BARNES made 57 three-pointers at Hawaii in 2010-11 before sitting out in 2011-12. The 57 three-pointers is a Hawaii freshman record.
MARSHALL, MARSHALL, MARSHALL: ASU welcomes a proven scorer in 2013-14, as graduate transfer JERMAINE MARSHALL joined the program in August after playing three years at Penn State. Last year he averaged 15.3 points (sixth in Big Ten), 4.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists and shot .759 from the free throw line (107-of-141).
