In honor of the Pac-12 Football Championship Game, the Pac-12 and ASU teamed up to create a technology center for students in downtown Phoenix.

"We are so excited to be able to contribute to the educational enhancment happening here," Pac-12 Deputy Commissioner Kevin Weiberg said.

The technology center was put together at ASU Preparatory Academy near 7th Street and Van Buren. It included tablets, computers and a TV with a game system, all with a maroon and gold theme and a few stuffed Sparkys.

Beatriz Rendon, CEO of ASU Preparatory Academy has set a standard to have all students at the charter school to go on to a get a four-year degree.

"Technology is really integral to meeting those goals," Rendon said. She added a majority of the students at the charter school don't have access to computers at home.

The student's faces lit up as they rushed into their revamped library. Onlooking parents took pictures as the youngsters explored technology center built on very short notice.

We only knew the championship game would be here in the Phoenix area about a week ago, so a quick turnaround but its been a lot of fun and we wanted to extend our thank you to (ASU) for the leadership they provided," Weiberg said.
