TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Baseball has launched the official “Tip Your Cap To Packard” logo to commemorate the 40th and final season at historic Packard Stadium, which begins Feb. 14 against Baylor at 2:30 p.m.
“Packard Stadium will always hold a special place in my heart - as a player, an assistant coach and a head coach - and this logo is just one of many ways this season we are making sure these hallowed grounds get the respect they deserve,” head coach Tim Esmay said.
The logo will be stitched onto each of the Sun Devils’ three baseball hats, as well as painted behind each base path and the upper corners of the batter’s eye.
In conjunction with the logo’s launch, a select line of “Tip Your Cap To Packard” merchandise bearing the new logo will be made available at Sparky’s Stadium Shop, located in the Carson Student-Athlete Center, starting Jan. 28, as well as on gamedays at the team shop at Packard Stadium.
The classic interlocking AS captures the rich tradition and legacy of the Sun Devil Baseball program, and the outline of Packard’s iconic façade serves as an enduring embodiment of the memories ASU will honor this season.
Built in 1974, Packard Stadium has played host to two national championship teams, 18 NCAA Regional tournaments and more than 1,100 ASU victories. The Sun Devils have played every season except 2002 at Packard, and the entire 2014 season will serve as a celebration of the program’s 40 years of baseball inside the stadium. Every era of Sun Devil baseball will be honored, long-time season ticket holders will be recognized, and former players and moments will be remembered.
Fans are encouraged to download images of the logo to use on their social media accounts as well as wallpapers for laptops and desktops. Join the conversation all season using the hashtag #OccupyPackard.
