STANFORD, Calif. – Jahii Carson (24 points, 9-17 FGs) and Jermaine Marshall (22 points, 7-11 FGs) combined to score 46 points and shoot an aggregate 57 percent (16-28) from the floor, but it would not be enough as Stanford snapped Arizona State’s three-game winning streak with a 76-70 win.

Trailing 33-32 at the half, Stanford (14-7, 5-4 Pac-12) used a 20-6 run over the first 6:17 of the second half to take control of the game. Dwight Powell and Chasson Randle, who scored 28 and 21 points, respectively, to lead Stanford, scored nine points each during the aforementioned scoring run.

Carson (3-7) and Marshall (6-8) combined for nine of ASU’s 11 3-pointers in the game, however the rest of the Sun Devils struggled to find their shooting touch going a combined 5-23 from the floor, including 2-12 from beyond the arc.

Jordan Bachynski led ASU in rebounds with 10 to post his 12th double-digit rebounding effort of the season, while also adding seven points and a pair of blocks.

Although the Sun Devils (16-6, 5-4) shot only 33 percent in the second half, they were able to get back within striking distance by connecting on 70 percent (14-20) of their free throws in the second half.

A 3-pointer by Marshall cut the Cardinal’s lead to 70-67 with 1:09 remaining. Powell then missed the second of two free throws on the opposite end, but the Sun Devils were not able to take advantage as Carson’s 3-pointer missed its mark. ASU could get no closer as Stanford made 5-6 free throws in the last 35 seconds to seal the win.

The Sun Devils return to action on Thursday (9 p.m. MT) when they host Oregon State at Wells Fargo Arena. The game can be seen live on FOX Sports 1.
