Round two of The Prestige from La Quinta, Calif. wrapped up late Tuesday afternoon with the Arizona State men’s golf team sitting in 9th-place with one round to go. For the Sun Devils, Max Rottluff continues to lead the way.
ASU shot a combined 6-over par 290 on Tuesday to move, exactly replicating its team performance from Monday’s first round to move to 12-over 580. It remains six strokes behind USC and Texas Tech for 7th.
Rottluff followed up his first round of 69 with a second round of 69 again, and he has firmly positioned himself tied for 4th-place with an opportunity to charge to the front of the leadership by the time Wednesday’s third round comes to a close. Rottluff, who is 4-under for the tournament, finished with five birdies on the day, including back-to-back birdies on holes 16 and 17. He trails leader Patrick Rodgers from Stanford by five strokes, while he remains only one stroke back of second.
Austin Quick is tied for 25th after going even-par Tuesday, and sits at 1-over for the tournament. Mathias Schjoelberg shot 5-over in the second round, while Ki Taek Lee and Trey Ka’ahanui both shot rounds of 4-over.
