TEMPE – The Arizona State University softball team will take part in two weeknight games this week before heading to the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, Calif.
The Sun Devils (19-3) will take on Detroit tonight at 7 p.m. MT before squaring off against Longwood at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
Monday’s contest is a make-up game and will be considered part of the Louisville Slugger Invitational to take the place of Saturday’s rain cancellation against Florida International. Tuesday’s contest will be a regular season match against Lancers.
The Sun Devils will enter the two-day span with a 19-3 record after losing three of their last four games. ASU will be looking to rebound against a Detroit team that is beat 6-4 this past Thursday in the opener of the Louisville Slugger Classic.
ASU scored just four runs in those three losses and will be looking to get the offense back on track to the level of the 10 mercy rule games it has played this season.
The Sun Devil pitching staff has remained solid despite the three losses as Mackenize Popescue enters these two games with a 10-1 record and a 0.82 ERA while Dallas Escobedo is 8-2 with a 1.02 ERA.
Amber Freeman continues to lead the way for the Sun Devils offense with a .467 batting average and 16 RBI this year while Chelsea Gonzales showed off her big-game potential this past weekend with several clutch hits. The freshman is currently batting .405 with 13 RBI despite playing six less games than most of the starters.
Both games this week will be available via live stream online through Pac-12.com. The ASU streams can be viewed at: http://pac-12.com/videos/arizona-state-university.
As for tickets for Monday’s game, ASU season ticket holders may use their Louisville Slugger - Day Four tickets for the game while anyone that purchased an All-Session Pass for the tournament will also be admitted.
