NORMAN, Okla. – With bright spots of gymnastics, the No. 21 Arizona State women’s gymnastics team had to count a fall on both bars and floor in a road loss to Oklahoma, 197.450-194.150 in Norman, Okla.

The Sun Devils started off the meet on bars. Sophomore Risa Perez set the tone with a clean routine, scoring 9.775 to lead of Arizona State. With back-to-back falls by sophomore Kristine Levin and freshman Beka Conrad, ASU rebounded with clean routines from sophomore Stephanie Miceli, junior Brianna Gades and sophomore Carissa Kraus. Kraus led the Sun Devils on the event, recording her fifth score of 9.875 on the season.

With only five vaulters, ASU was able to score a team total of 48.825. Senior Sammie Seaman recorded a career-high 9.900 on vault to share the event title with Oklahoma’s Maile’ana Kanewa.

On floor, junior Natasha Sundby tied a career high with a score of 9.925 to lead the Sun Devils. Sophomore Allie Salas led off the line-up with a score of 9.775 but two falls on the event caused setbacks for ASU.

Arizona State finished the meet on beam, scoring a team total of 48.900. Gades led the team with a score of 9.850 and Savannah Borman scored a career-high 9.800 to anchor the Sun Devils’ beam line-up.

Next up, the Gym Devils return home to Wells Fargo Arena to host Northern Illinois on March 14. The meet, which starts at 7 p.m. MT, will be the last home meet for senior Sammie Seaman and head coach John Spini.
