WALNUT CREEK, Calif.—The Arizona State women’s gymnastics team placed five gymnasts on the Pac-12 All-Academic Team, commissioner Larry Scott announced today. ASU’s five athletes on the list was the fourth-highest total in the conference.
Sophomore Allie Salas was named an All-Pac-12 second team honoree and leads the list of All-Academic selections for Arizona State. Salas, a member of the Barrett Honors College, holds a 3.50 GPA in biochemistry. A walk-on for the Gym Devils, Salas has been a fixture on the ASU vault and floor line-up since she joined the team her freshman year. Salas was also a 2013 NACGC Scholar All-American.
Also earning All-Pac-12 Academic Honorable Mention accolades are sophomore psychology major Erin Hamister, sophomore W.P. Carey marketing major Carissa Kraus, sophomore business communications major Stephanie Miceli and junior health sciences major Natasha Sundby.
This is the first Pac-12 Academic honor for all five Gym Devils. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
