TEMPE – Arizona State University water polo sophomore E.B. Keeve was named the MPSF Player of the Week after helping lead her team to a 6-5 upset over No. 4 California in the regular season finale in Tempe this past weekend.

Keeve posted a career regulation-high 17 saves in the contest, nine of which came in the second half as she helped the Sun Devils (14-8, 2-4 MPSF) preserve a 5-2 halftime lead for the pivotal victory toward the team’s postseason hopes.

Keeve helped limit the Golden Bear offense to a season low five goals in the 6-5 victory in favor of the Sun Devils, ASU’s third straight over Cal. Her efforts helped keep Cal scoreless for the final 4:57 of regulation after the Golden Bears had cut ASU’s lead to just one goal.

Keeve now has 238 saves on the season, averaging 12.53 per game that is easily the highest tally in the MPSF. At her current clip, she would break her own school record for saves per game in a single season that currently sits at 12.46.

Her 238 saves are seventh in program history, despite the fact that this year’s team has played several fewer games than it has in past seasons.

At 615 career saves and still just a sophomore, Keeve is well on pace to knock off Caylinn Wallace’s career record of 1,087 barring any significant setbacks.

The Sun Devils will be off this weekend before getting the postseason started at the MPSF Championships in Los Angeles beginning Friday, April 25.
