WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Arizona State University junior shortstop Drew Stankiewicz has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week after leading the Sun Devils to four wins this past week, including a series sweep over Utah.
Stankiewicz tallied a .389 batting average, a .667 slugging percentage and a .389 on-base percentage as he collected seven hits, including two doubles and a solo home run, and added five RBI and five runs scored.
He twice tied his career high with three hits this week and set a career-high with three RBI in a road win over UNLV on May 13 and a season-high seven total bases against Utah on May 18. He has tallied at least a pair of hits in five of his past eight games and scored a run in all four games this week.
This is Stankiewicz’s first career Pac-12 Player of the Week nod and ASU’s Conference-leading 105th all-time selection. He is the first position player for the Sun Devils to earn the honor in 2014 as teammates Ryan Kellogg and Darin Gillies were previously named Pitchers of the Week this season.
