TEMPE, Ariz. – The 2014 Arizona State Women’s Tennis team was named an ITA All-Academic team, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced Friday. The qualification for ITA All-Academic team recognition is having a team grade point average of 3.20 or above, on a 4.00 scale, for the academic year. This is the seventh-consecutive year Arizona State was named an All-Academic team by the ITA.

Individual recognition was given to Joanna Smith, a Psychology and Human and Family Development major from Laguna Niguel, Calif., and Aubria Solares, a Legal Studies major from Anthem, Ariz., who were named ITA Scholar-Athletes. To qualify for ITA Scholar-Athlete honors an athlete needs to be a varsity letter winner, hold a grade point average of at least 3.50, on a 4.00 scale, for the academic year, and be enrolled for at least two semesters at the school.

Smith, who will be beginning her Master’s program at Arizona State in the fall, was also named an ITA Scholar-Athlete in 2012 and 2013.
