TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Athletics and Vice President for University Athletics Ray Anderson have created the “Honor Row” at Sun Devil Stadium to pay tribute to members of our nation’s armed services and their families.
The “Honor Row,” located in the first row of section 31 on the east side of Sun Devil Stadium, will be wrapped in maroon and gold camouflage, and clearly designated as “Honor Row.” The 30 tickets for all six games have been donated by Sun Devil Athletics and will be given to active military members or veterans.
“We owe our servicemen and women a great debt, and the ‘Honor Row’ is just one small opportunity for us to help repay it,” Anderson said. “Sun Devil Athletics is a community asset and we take great pride in being able to share it with these distinguished individuals that we respect so much.”
Those sitting in the “Honor Row” will be welcomed to the game and honored on the video board prior to the National Anthem, and will be special guests of Anderson and the entire SDA staff.
“It is vitally important that we show an appreciation for the men and women who serve in our military, and it is imperative for our student-athletes to understand that their opportunity to chase their dreams would not be possible without the sacrifices made by the armed services,” Head Coach Todd Graham said.
Plans are also currently in place to create similar “Honor Rows” at Wells Fargo Arena for both men’s and women’s basketball, and at Phoenix Muni for baseball.
Sun Devil Athletics places a high value in recognizing local members of the military through annual Salute to Service games and the Pitchfork Salute, an on-field recognition at every home football game, as well as partnerships with VetTix and other organizations.
