TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's cross country squad is ranked fourth for the second consecutive week by the FinishLynx NCAA Div. 1 Women's Cross Country Poll released today.

The Sun Devil women are fresh off a second-place finish at last weekend's Pac-10 Championships, tying the best ASU conference finish recorded last year. Junior Lisa Aguilera continued to pave the way for the ASU women with a second-place individual finish, running the 6,000-meter course in 20:19.95. Her runner-up performance was the best Pac-10 finish ever for an ASU woman.

Also finishing strong were Sun Devil harriers senior Mary Duerbeck and junior Brianna Torres who placed seventh (20:47.4) and 15th (21:19.1), respectively.

The ASU men's team also put together a solid finish at the Pac-10 Championships, finishing fourth for the third consecutive year. The Sun Devil men, who also tied their best conference team finish in school history, were led by a 15th place individual finish by senior Garrett Jensen who completed the 8,000-meter course in 24:15.32. Freshman Juan Reyes finished close behind Jensen in 16th-place with a time of 24:17.2.

The Sun Devil men were not included in this week's MONDO Top-25 poll for the second consecutive week, but received four votes. The men were ranked as high as 11th this season.

Both teams will take this week off in preparation for the NCAA West Regionals Saturday, Nov. 11 at Woodward Park in Fresno, Calif. The top two teams in both the men's and women's races will receive automatic bids to the NCAA Championships in Ames, Iowa, Nov. 20. Thirteen additional teams from across the nation will then be selected to fill out the 31-team NCAA field based on their regional finishes and performance against other potential qualifiers.
