TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's cross country squad has been featured as one of the nation's top teams in the September issue of Sports Illustrated for Women, garnering an eighth-place ranking by the publication in its fall college sports preview.

The ASU women, also ranked 10th in the FinishLynx preseason poll, opened the season with a fourth-place finish at the UC Irvine Invitational Saturday, Sept. 9. Junior Brianna Torres won the 5,000 meter race in a time of 18:30.2, her first meet title as a Sun Devil.

Both the ASU men's and women's cross country squads are off this week, and will be back in action next Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn.
