TEMPE, Ariz. - Josh Satow turned in a sterling eight inning outing on Saturday night, allowing only one earned run and striking out eight to lead the Sun Devils to a 4-3 victory over Washington State. Andrew Romine knocked in the eventual game winner in the fifth, and Jason Jarvis got the final three outs to record the save. The win puts the Devils at 28-10, 9-2 in Pac-10 play.
Eric Sogard put Arizona State up 1-0 in the first, singling up the middle to score Tim Smith and give ASU the early lead. After the Cougars tied it in the third, ASU answered back with three in the fifth to go up 4-1.
The Cougars would score an unearned run in the sixth, but Satow was on his game, picking up the win to move him to 8-2 on the year. The junior lefty allowed only four hits and fanned eight over his eight innings. Jason Jarvis pitched the ninth, allowing a solo homer to Jeff Miller before picking up his fourth save of the year.
The Devils and Cougars will play the series finale tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is at noon from Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark.
