TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State baseball players Jered Liebeck and Ryan Schroyer both had successful seasons in 2002 and are looking to continue that success with their respective Alaskan League teams this week in the annual NBC World Series held in Wichita, Kansas.

Liebeck, a senior-to-be from Glendale, is pitching for the defending champion Anchorage Glacier Pilots, while Schroyer, a junior-to-be from Casa Grande, has been dominating all summer for the Alaska Goldpanners. Both players earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 during the 2002 season.

Schroyer, who put together a great year in 2002 with a 4-1 record, recording eight saves and maintaining a Pac-10 best 2.37 ERA, has been nearly un-hittable during his summer stint with the Goldpanners. The hard-throwing right-hander was 1-0 with six saves and a 0.00 ERA in 17 and a third innings. He struck out 35 and allowed only six hits. Schroyer has contributed one scoreless inning as the Goldpanners are off to a 3-0 start in the NBC World Series.

Liebeck, who was 2-1 with a 5.20 ERA for the Sun Devils in 2002, put together a solid summer with the Glacier Pilots by going 2-0 with a 2.83 ERA. He is a big reason to the Glacier Pilots' fast 4-0 start in the NBC Tournament, going 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 4.1 innings of work.
