Baseball Leads West Coast In Attendance For Fourth Straight Year

TEMPE, Ariz. - For the fourth straight season, Arizona State University baseball led all schools west of Texas in average attendance. The Sun Devils averaged 3,052 fans per game in 2008, placing them 19th nationally and tops on the west coast, according to numbers released by the NCAA. This marks the ninth time in the past 10 years ASU has been ranked in the top 20 nationally in average attendance.

The Sun Devils had 44 home games (including one doubleheader), totaling 131,244 fans in 2008, the largest attendance in the last 20 years, when they finished 49-13 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the ninth straight season. ASU went 39-5 at home and hosted a super regional for the second consecutive year.

Arizona State was also tops in the west in 2003 and finished second in 2004. The highest-ranked Pac-10 team, the Devils finished eight spots higher than the next Pac-10 team, Stanford, which came in 27th with an average of 2,099 fans per game.
