Getting to know Courtney Tinnin...

If you could play any other sport at the collegiate level, what would it be? I have always wanted to dive but have been too scared of hitting the diving board face first. So if I could skip the part of learning and hitting my head I would love to compete at the collegiate level for diving.

What is something people would be surprised to find out about you? Well some people probably don't know that I have a stitch in my eye. When I was about six I was opening up a birthday present with a streak knife. However, the knife slipped and went directly into my eye. After I had surgery I found out that I was literally so close to becoming blind in one eye. The weird thing is when my dad was in his 30's he cut his eye in the exact same place as I did. We had the same doctor who did our surgeries to confirm it.

What is one thing you would never leave home without? No matter where I go, I never leave my house without my eyelash curler. I have one in every purse of mine, my backpack, my car, and sometimes even find one in my roommate's car.

What are some of your hobbies? Well for one, if you are looking for me during wintertime the one place you should probably look is the slopes. I love snowboarding; its something that my brother and I do while I am home during winter break. Aside from that, I like to hang out with my family and friends, be spontaneous, and when I get the chance I enjoy hiking, fishing, and hunting.

The perfect meal includes? Well being that I am from New Mexico, no matter what the meal might be it HAS to include green chili. I absolutely love breakfast so my perfect meal would be scrambled eggs, hash brown, bacon, sausage, cheese, green chili all mixed in a bowl with a tortilla on the side--with apple juice of course.

If you could be on any reality T.V show, what would it be? I have two shows that I would absolutely love to be on. One would be the amazing race because I love how they get to travel the world while still competing. Second would be the road rules challenge. It would be cool because you get to live with a big group of friends in some exotic place while competing in challenges.

What's your favorite class you've taken so far at ASU? MKT 300 with Professor Eaton because he makes the class entertaining and fun to attend. I also think the whole concept of marketing is interesting and if I would have taken this class as a freshman I would have probably changed my major to business marketing.

If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be and why? Greece because ever since I saw the movie Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants I have wanted to go. It is just so pretty from pictures and movies, I couldn't begin to image it in person.

Who has been the most influential person in your life and why? The most influential person in my life without a doubt is my mom. She was definitely the strongest person I have ever come across and probably will ever meet. She battled cancer for a whole seven years and never gave up. Even in the worst pain, she had the best attitude and kept pushing forward. The best thing that I can take away from her is her strength, courage, and willingness to never give up no matter how bad the circumstances might be.

What is your biggest pet peeve? My biggest pet peeve is when people chew extremely loud. I know that it might seem dumb, but if you want to get under my skin, just do that!
