TEMPE, Ariz.—The Arizona State track and field teams continued to give back to the community last week, lending a hand at last Sunday’s Arizona Rock N Roll Marathon, which sent the student-athletes throughout the Tempe and downtown Phoenix area.
The Sun Devils were in action starting at 6 a.m., helping prepare the finish line and organizing the medals each participant received after they completed the marathon, half-marathon, mini-marathon, or bike tour.
With the number of runners estimated to be over 18,000, ASU’s student-athletes were also responsible for setting up snack and beverages, while other groups were placed throughout the Finish Line Festival to direct runners and their friends and family to the different events.
Groups also worked with UPS to help reconnect runners with their personal belongings at the start lines.
Competition in the 2014 indoor season continues this week, with the Sun Devils returning to Flagstaff on Jan. 24-25 for the NAU Invitational.
