FLAGSTAFF, Ariz.—The Arizona State track and field pole vaulters wrapped up competition at NAU’s Last Chance Meet on Friday night at the Walkup Skydome.
On the women’s side, seniors Heather Arseneau and Shaylah Simpson each cleared 4.00m (13-1.50), while redshirt junior Amber Pasternak cleared 3.70m (12-1.50). Pasternak’s mark was just short of her personal best of 3.71m (12-2.00), set last week at the Don Kirby Invite.
For the men, freshman Dillon Groener cleared 4.77m (15-7.75), a new personal best and a second-place finish amongst the five competitors. Following Groener was redshirt senior Chris Manuele, who cleared 4.62m (15-1.75).
ASU track and field will round out the weekend on Sunday when redshirt senior Anna Jelmini competes at the USATF Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. The women’s shot put is set for 1:20 p.m. MT.
Next week, ASU will make the trek to Seattle, Wash., to compete at the MPSF Indoor Track and Field Championships, Feb. 28-March 1.
