BALDY CASTILLO INVITE SCHEDULE

DAY 1 RESULTS

TEMPE, Ariz.—The Arizona State track and field team wrapped the first day of the outdoor season on Friday as it hosted the Baldy Castillo Invite at the Sun Angel Track Stadium.

Payton Schutte led the Sun Devils in the women’s 1500m run, finishing second at 4:23.80. Adriana Olivas followed in fourth at 4:26.03, while Kala Stone took sixth at 4:28.00, and Chelsey Totten finished in seventh at 4:31.47.

In the women’s hammer, Jessika Byrd finished second with a best toss of 61.10m (200-05), while Ashley Weber placed seventh at 55.36m (181-07), and Ginger Jarchow took 10th at 49.73m (163-02).

On the men’s side of the 1500m, Ryan Herson led the Sun Devils at 3:50.80 for ninth, while Garrett Seawell took 13th at 3:52.96. Daniel Wong took 16th at 4:54.83, Garrett Baker-Slama finished at 3:56.25 for 19th, and Kevin Rayes rounded out the top-20 at 3:56.96.

Ryan Leslie led ASU in the men’s hammer, placing seventh at 58.20m (190-11). Kyle Lillie followed in 10th with a throw of 55.59m (182-04), and Kyle Long placed in 14th at 51.78m (169-10).

The Baldy Castillo Invite continues on Saturday, with the field events beginning at 10 a.m. PT with the men’s discus, and the running events will begin with the women’s 100m hurdles at 1 p.m. PT.
