FROM SUN DEVIL VICE PRESIDENT FOR ATHLETICS STEVE PATTERSON
"As we have talked with Coach Myers over the past few weeks, it is apparent to us that Coach wants to make a move to be with his family. As great of a coach he is, he is just as great as a father and grandfather, and this move will allow him to be with his family more. Clint has elevated our program to be one of the best, if not the best, in the nation, the past eight years. Because of his efforts, the Sun Devil head coaching position also is one of the best in the nation and we will proceed to hire a great fit for Arizona State that continues the Sun Devil tradition at the highest level. Our list of softball highlights is extensive and will serve as a benchmark as we begin our search. Our record at Farrington Stadium is amazing, our attendance numbers continue to climb, the academic milestones and Sun Devil pride is endless and we continue to make improvements to our stadium and game experience. We appreciate Clint for his honesty with us throughout this process and for all his efforts, which will eventually result in a place in our Sun Devil Hall of Fame. We wish Coach and his family all the best on and off the field, and we expect to meet Auburn and Coach Myers in Oklahoma City in late May in the near future."
NOTE FROM CLINT MYERS TO SUN DEVIL ATHLETIC STAFF
"I wanted you to know that the Myers family has decided to make a move. I have been named the new head Softball Coach for the Auburn Tigers. This was a family decision... the reason being, my sons will be coaching with me at this new position. I am thrilled that in the final years of my coaching career that I will be able to mentor and help my sons to start their own college coaching careers. I can only hope that my sons will have the success and wonderful experiences and memories that my family has had while coaching at ASU for the past eight seasons. Wow... LOTS of great memories!!! I am very sad to say good bye, but I am also VERY EXCITED for this amazing opportunity."
