Tennis' Krawczyk, Vlad Earn All-Pac-12 Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.—Arizona State sophomore Desirae Krawczyk was named All-Pac-12 second-team and sophomore Stephanie Vlad was named All-Pac-12 honorable mention. This is the first time either player has been named to the All-Conference Pac-12 team.

Krawczyk, from Palm Desert, California, predominantly played second singles for the Sun Devils this past season. She finished the season with a dual-match record of 20-3 and an overall record of 28-9. During the spring season, Krawczyk recorded 12-straight singles wins and did not lose a match in an impressive span of over two months, from January 18 to March 22.

Throughout the season, she recorded seven wins against ranked players, including wins over players from No. 1 UCLA, No. 8 Stanford, No. 19 Notre Dame, and No. 24 Pepperdine. The Sun Devil sophomore finished the 2014 season by reaching the NCAA Singles Championship and recording a win against a ranked player from No. 11 Vanderbilt. She rounded out the season ranked 37th nationally.

Krawczyk was a reliable doubles player for the Sun Devils, winning 14 dual-matches and a total of 17 doubles matches. As the spring season progressed, she mainly played number one doubles, where she recorded wins against several ranked schools, such as Pepperdine, Washington, Princeton, and Arizona.

Vlad, a native of Scottsdale, played number one singles for the Sun Devils during her sophomore campaign. She won twice as many dual-matches than she lost, with a record of 16-8, and finished the season with an overall record of 23-12. In between February and March, Vlad had eight-consecutive wins for the span of over a month. Vlad posted great wins at the No. 1 spot throughout the season against ranked players from DePaul, California, UNLV, Washington, and Utah. She reached a season-high ITA ranking of No. 48 in February and finished the season with a ranking of 69.

In doubles, Vlad rotated between the number two and three doubles positions for the Sun Devils. She recorded 12 doubles wins, ten of which were dual-matches. She had four wins against ranked teams.

Overall, Sun Devil tennis finished the season ranked No. 32, nationally.
