    Offensive Player of the Week Nominee:
    Andre Ethier, So., OF/1B, Phoenix, Ariz.
    Ethier hit .462 (6x13) in the series vs. Tennessee, collecting a pair of three-hit games during ASU's sweep of the No. 25 Volunteers. He went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI in the finale on Sunday, helping lead ASU to a 5-4 victory to improve to 7-0 on the year. He was 3-for-5 falling just a home run short of hitting for the cycle in Saturday's 8-1 victory. Ethier leads the Devils at the plate in 2002 hitting .462 (12x26) with four doubles, a triple and 10 RBI. Ethier transferred to Arizona State from Chandler-Gilbert CC. Over the last five games Ethier is hitting .444 (8x18) with three doubles and five RBI.

    Pitcher of the Week Nominee:
    Robbie McClellan, Jr., RHP, Liberal, Kan.
    Junior RHP Robbie McClellan was 1-0 with one save on the mound vs. the Volunteers. The former junior college standout at Seward County CC, McClellan struck out seven batters in 3.1 innings in Friday's series opening 7-4 win for the Sun Devils. McClellan came back to close out the Sunday game, earning his first career save. The junior stymied a Volunteer ninth-inning rally when he struck out consecutive batters with the bases loaded to end the game with the tying run on third base. For the year he is 2-0 with one save and a 0.00 ERA. In 8.1 total innings, McClellan has struck out 15 batters and opposing hitters are batting just .167 against him.

    Notes on ASU Baseball:
    Arizona State is off to a 7-0 start, matching the 7-0 start of the 2000 Pac-10 Championship squad... the Sun Devil bullpen has allowed only two earned runs in 19.2 combined innings... in addition, the Sun Devil bullpen has inherited 17 runners, with only four scoring... the starters have faired almost as well, maintaining a staff 2.49 ERA... sophomore RHP Mike Esposito threw his first career complete game in the 8-1 win over Tennessee on Saturday... in two career games vs. the Volunteers, Esposito has allowed only one run in 15.0 combined innings... sophomore designated hitter/infielder Steve Garrabrants has a hit in each of ASU's first seven games, hitting .448 (13x29) on the year... his leadoff home run on the first pitch of the bottom of the first in Saturday's 8-1 win was his first career home run, ending a span of 161 at-bats without a round-tripper... Garrabrants leads ASU with five multi-hit games... the leadoff hitter in the game for Arizona State is 6-for-7 this year in getting a hit... junior LHP Bryce Kartler tied a career high with nine strikeouts in his career-long start of 6.2 innings on Sunday... Kartler picked up his first career victory in his 33rd career appearance... he also have five saves to his credit... sophomore RHP Ryan Schroyer struck out eight 5.2 innings Friday and now has 18 strikeouts between his two starts this year... ASU has out-hit its opponent in six of the seven games... playing its home games at pitcher-friendly Hohokam Stadium, ASU already has six triples, one-third to its 2001 season total of 18... ASU has now scored a run in 382 consecutive games, extending its NCAA record... 8th year head coach Pat Murphy is now only six wins short of 600 Division 1 victories in his career... the ASU hitters are batting .329 (28x85) with runners in scoring position.
