SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Sun Devil baseball head coach Tim Esmay will join the Scottsdale Community College Athletic Hall of Fame during the school's Hall of Fame weekend that will take place beginning Friday night, October 14. Esmay, who played for the Artichokes in 1984 and 1985, will be honored during a dinner on Friday night and at halftime of the SCC football game on Saturday.

Esmay hit .397 during his two seasons at SCC, earning All-American honors and helping lead the Artichokes to the 1984 NJCAA World Series. He was named the 1985 National Junior College Athletic Association Region 1 Player of the Year thanks to his .438 batting average. He had 77 hits that season, setting a conference record. He recorded 25 doubles, setting a school record that still stands.

After playing two seasons for Scottsdale Community College, Esmay moved on to play for the Sun Devils before beginning his coaching career. He was named the head coach of Arizona State in December of 2009.
