TEMPE, Ariz. - The 15th-ranked Arizona State baseball team (20-9, 0-3 Pac-10) shut out the Oklahoma Sooners tonight 11-0 in front 2,829 fans at Packard Stadium. The shutout was the first shutout of Oklahoma since May 22, 1997.

The Devils scored the first runs of the night in the second inning to take a 4-0 lead, and that was all ASU needed. Shortstop Willie Bloomquist had his first four-hit game of the season, going 4-for-6 with two runs scored and two RBI. Sophomore catcher Casey Myers had a good evening, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, his third and fourth of the season, two runs scored and one RBI. Second baseman Mark Ernster went a perfect 3-for-3, with two runs scored and one RBI. The Devils, who had 10 hits through the third inning, were also led by Brooks Conrad and Chip Gosewisch, both who chipped in two hits a piece. Junior Mitch Jones came off the bench in the third inning to knock a solo home run over the right field fence, his fifth round tripper of the season.

Sophomore pitching phenom Will Waldrip, pitched his fourth complete game of the season, and his third complete game shutout. Waldrip gave up only three hits, struck out six and gave up no walks. This was the second time this season Waldrip has pitched a complete game without giving up any free bases. Waldrip also had two streaks tonight where he retired 10 straight batters.

Head coach Pat Murphy was pleased with Waldrip's outing.

"Will Waldrip might have had his best outing of the year tonight," Murphy said. "And Casey Myers did an excellent job behind the plate."

For the Sooners, the only players to record hits were Casey Bookout went 1-for-4, Richard Park went 1-for-3, and Tim Hooper, who came off the bench, went 1-for-1. Starting pitcher Kyle Denney took the loss for OU, going two innings, giving up seven hits and four earned runs.

The Sun Devils next head out on the road to 12th-ranked Cal State Fullerton for a single game on Tuesday, March 16. The Devils will return home next weekend for a four-game series with Boston College beginning Friday, March 19.
