Mel Stocker Set To Become ASU's 88th Major Leaguer

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. - Former Arizona State outfielder Mel Stocker has been called up to the Milwaukee Brewers and is readying to make his debut in Major League Baseball. Stocker, who donned the Maroon and Gold in 2000 and 2001, will become the 88th Sun Devil to play Major League Baseball when he takes the field in a Brewers uniform. The Brewers host the Pirates Saturday evening at Miller Park.

Stocker spent two seasons in Tempe after transferring to ASU from Pima Community College. The Tucson, Ariz. product played in 100 games for the Devils, hitting .298 and stealing 26 bases. He was a member of the Pac-10 Championship team in 2000. He was a 16th round draft pick of the Kansas City Royals in the 2001 MLB Draft.
