Baseball's Bloomquist Goes 2-for-5 in Nicaragua

MANAGUA, Nicaragua - Brant Ust slashed a game-winning single to left field in the bottom of the eleventh inning to score Seth Davidson and lead the United States to a 4-3 win over the Dominican Republic on Thursday night at Roberto Clemente Stadium in Masaya, Nicaragua. The win boosted the USA's overall seaosn record to 9-2 and kept its World Champioship Qualifier tournament record a perfect 2-0.

ASU's Willie Bloomquist went 2-for-5 with his fourth double on the season and drew a walk. Bloomquist is batting .344 for the national team through nine games and is 3-for-4 in the stolen base category. Fellow national and collegiate teammate Casey Myers is batting .444 (4-for-9) for the USA squad in four appearances.

On Friday afternoon, the USA Baseball National Team will face Canada in Leon, Nicaragua, as the World Championship Qualifier tournament continues. Mario Ramos is slated to start for the USA.
