TEMPE, Ariz. - Mississippi starter Will Kline kept the Arizona State hitters off balance for eight strong innings of Game One of the Tempe Super Regional. Fortunately for Sun Devil fans, Kline was not as sharp in the ninth, as ASU scored three times in the ninth to claim a 4-3 walk-off victory in front of 4,247 fans at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark. The win puts ASU at 47-13 on the season.

The Rebels jumped on top in the third, as a single to center field off starter Mike Leake made it 1-0. They would add two more on a single to center in the seventh to put Ole Miss up 3-0. Eric Sogard put ASU on the board in the eighth, homering to right field in to make it 3-1. It was his 11th homer of the season.

Kline came out for the ninth hoping to sew up the Rebels game one win. Ike Davis led the inning off with a single to center, then was replaced by pinch runner Rocky Laguna. Matt Spencer then singled to first, advancing Laguna to second. Mike Jones came in to run for Spencer. Tim Smith singled to center, loading the bases for CJ Retherford. After Ryan Sontag came in to run for Smith, Retherford grounded out to third, but Laguna came home to cut it to 3-2 with one away. Jason Jarvis then pinch hit for Andrew Romine and lofted a sac fly to right that scored Jones and tied it up at three. That set up Pac-10 Player of the Year Brett Wallace, who came into the at-bat 0-4 on the night. He sent a soft liner to center field that scored Sontag, giving the Devils a walk-off 4-3 victory.

Mike Leake started for ASU and allowed 13 hits and three runs over seven innings of work. Brian Flores came on in the eighth, his first relief appearance of the season, and did not allow a hit over the final two innings. He fanned four of the seven batters he faced to pick up the victory and improve to 11-1 on the year.

Eric Sogard was 2-3 with an RBI, while Kiel Roling, Matt Spencer and CJ Retherford also turned in two hit nights.

The Devils will now try and end the series tomorrow in Game Two. Sunday's game begins at 4 p.m. from Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark. ESPN2 will televise the game.
