This Week's Games vs. Loyola Marymount (4-8):

Saturday, March 2 - LMU, 7 p.m. MST (Hohokam Stadium)
Sunday, March 3 - LMU, 1 p.m. MST (Hohokam Stadium)

Offensive Player of the Week Nominee:
Jeremy West, So., 1B, Las Vegas, Nev.
West had a good weekend at the plate in three games against 12th-ranked Cal State Fullerton. The sophomore hit at a .455 (5x11) clip with a triple, two home runs and three RBI. He slugged a solo home run in the ninth inning off Titan All-American hurler Chad Cordero in the first game of the series and added his third home run of the year in the fifth inning of Sunday's series finale. West is currently second on the team in hitting with a .390 average (22-for-50) and leads the team with 10 extra base hits. Over the past five games West is hitting .412 (7x17).

Pitcher of the Week Nominee:
Aaron Klusman, RS-So., RHP, Phoenix, Ariz.
While the entire pitching staff maintained a 3.33 ERA in the three games vs. Cal State Fullerton, sophomore relief pitcher Aaron Klusman was the brightest spot by throwing four shutout innings in two combined appearances. Klusman rebounded from a shaky last outing vs. Florida State (2/15) to strike out three and allow only one hit in three innings vs. CSF in the series opener. He then added a nearly perfect inning of relief in Sunday's finale, including two strikeouts. For the season Klusman is 0-0 with a 3.52 ERA.

Notes on ASU Baseball:
The Devils continue to struggle in the close games against nationally ranked opponents... ASU snapped its four-game losing streak with the 9-4 win Saturday over the Titans, but have still lost five of their last six overall... four of those five losses have been by two or less runs... the win on Saturday prevented ASU from reaching a five-game losing streak for the first time since the 1999 season... the Sun Devil offense has sputtered as of late by hitting only .255 in the Fullerton series (25x98) and over the last five games are hitting .269... sophomore junior college transfer Andre Ethier continues to lead the Devils at the plate with a .440 batting average and also leads the team with seven multi-hit games... Jeremy West is second with a .390 mark after heating up over the weekend going 5-for-11 vs. Fullerton... senior center fielder Jon Sheaffer currently has the longest active hitting streak at seven games, going 9-for-22 (.409) during that stretch... Sheaffer is third on the team with a .387 overall batting average... sophomore preseason All-American Rod Allen struggled at the plate in the Fullerton series, going 1-for-10 (.100)... the pitching staff continues to put up impressive numbers despite the recent losing skid... ASU pitchers have combined for a team 3.47 ERA and in the Fullerton series maintained a 3.33 mark... Bryce Kartler leads the starters with a 3.47 ERA, while relievers J.J. Jackson (2.84), Aaron Klusman (3.52) and Robbie McClellan (3.86) are the leaders out of the bullpen... McClellan started out his ASU career with two wins and a save, but has since suffered two straight losses... junior Dennis Wyrick made his collegiate debut at catcher vs. Cal State Fullerton, starting all three games behind the dish... Wyrick was effective with only one passed ball and threw out two base runners in the three games... he also performed well at the plate in the series going 3-for-10... the Devils have used seven different combinations of batting lineups this year and five different position lineups... eighth-year head coach Pat Murphy is now only five wins short of 500 Division I victories in his career... the Devils extended its NCAA record of consecutive games scoring at least one run to 388 games this weekend.
