Pac-12 Release | 2012 ASU Volleyball Recap
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Arizona State volleyball received its first rating of the 2013 season when the Pac-12 Conference announced the annual coaches poll and the first ever Preseason All Pac-12 Team, to which sophomore outside hitter Macey Gardner was recognized.
“These announcements serve to highlight our excitement for the coming season,” head coach Jason Watson commented. “Not lost on us is this tremendous amount of work it’s going to take to achieve an ambitious set of goals for the 2013 season. We are anxious to get the season started.”

The Sun Devils were tabbed sixth in the preseason poll, after finishing the 2012 campaign sixth in conference and with a First Round appearance in the NCAA Tournament. ASU returns six starters and welcomes a 13th ranked incoming class according to PrepVolleyball.com. The depth of the team was said to be “scary good,” by senior libero Stephanie Preach.
Included in the depth, Macey Gardner reprised her roll as a 2012 First Team All Pac-12 Team member with a preseason nod. The sophomore spent time playing in China with the Pac-12 All-Star team this summer and brings a wealth of knowledge to the outside hitter position. Of the returners, she brings the most time on the court in the OH spot and also led the Pac-12 in total kills one season ago.
Arizona State opens the season Aug. 30-31 at Utah Valley’s tournament in Orem, Utah. The home opener is Sept. 20-21 as the Sun Devils host the Marriott Invitational in Wells Fargo Arena. Fans can attend the ASU tournament for free, as well as the team’s scrimmage on Aug. 24 in Wells Fargo Arena.
Tickets are currently on sale, more information is available on the ticket office webpage. General Admission for adults is $7, children, seniors and faculty and staff with i.d. are $5 and single game floor seats are $12. Walk-up tickets on game day will increase in price by $1.
